Aubrey Dan

Principal

Aubrey is a Canadian businessman, philanthropist as well as a Tony-Award® winning producer (MEMPHIS) who is the principal of the Dancap Family Investment Office https://dancap.ca that focuses on alternative assets, such as private equity, private debt, infrastructure, hedge funds, as well as traditional assets, including public equities, fixed income and real estate.

Born in Toronto, Dan graduated from Western University with a degree in Administrative and Commercial studies in 1985.

Aubrey Dan is a very generous philanthropist, donating millions of dollars, primarily to health, community & education charities, and other worthy causes. Together with his wife Marla, they created the Aubrey & Marla Dan Foundation.

Aubrey and Marla have made many generous donations towards creating engaged, healthy and successful communities through programs that support healthcare, education, creative arts, and communities.

He and Marla raised two children, imparting on them the importance of pursuing your passions and giving back.

Aubrey received an honorary Doctorate of Laws Degree (honoris causa) from Assumption University in 2008 and from Western University in 2019. He is a Governor at Tel Aviv University and he’s received the Order of Canada in 2019.

Elias Toby, CPA, CA

COO, CFO

Elias is a results-oriented business leader with a successful record in start-up, turnaround, and growth situations. A graduate of the University of Toronto and a qualified CPA and CFP, Elias has a seasoned background in institutional investing, strategic planning, portfolio optimization, and talent development.

As the COO and CFO of the Dancap Family Office for about 25 years, Elias holds a pivotal role in shaping the organizational strategy, orchestrating dynamic portfolios, and executing mergers and acquisitions. He spearheads new opportunities, meticulously aligning investments with the family office’s short- and long-term objectives while adeptly recalibrating the portfolio to ensure resilience and relevance. Elias also boasts an astute grasp of diverse asset classes and substantial experience as a fund investor, earning him coveted positions in influential advisory circles such as the LP Advisory Committee at Onex Credit Management, Advisory Board at Marlin Spring Investments Ltd., and Investor Advisory Council at OurCrowd Management Limited. Elias is also a member of the Canadian Venture Capital Association (CVCA), which includes the CVCA CFO Task Force Committee, CIO Steering Committee, and technology subcommittee.

Beyond his professional commitments, Elias serves as a Trustee of the Aubrey & Marla Dan Foundation, where he actively shapes and guides the foundation’s strategic decisions to create meaningful impact. He has also served on the Board of the UJA Federation of Greater Toronto, and the Canadian Jewish News and has also assisted in key committees of Associated Hebrew Schools, driving educational excellence. Elias is also dedicated to shaping societal direction by engaging in various political ridings at all levels of government.

Paul Tershakowec, MA, CFA

Investment Director

Paul Tershakowec joined the Dancap Family Investment Office in 2013. In his current role as Investment Director, Paul is responsible for managing members of the Investment Team, evaluating new opportunities across asset classes, and monitoring existing portfolio investments.

Prior to joining Dancap, Paul worked as a Trader and Research Analyst at Arrow Capital Management Inc. where he managed a futures and equities portfolio focused on equity indices, commodities, and financial and technology stocks. Paul also worked as a Portfolio Risk Specialist at CIBC and as an Economist with the Federal Government of Canada.

Paul received his Master’s degrees in Economics from the University of Waterloo. During his graduate studies, he researched the effects of low interest rates and government policy on the 2007 sub-prime crisis. Paul is also a CFA Charterholder.

Jaclyn L. Landau

Investment Director

Jaclyn L. Landau joined the Dancap Family Investment Office in 2013 as an Investment Analyst. Along with the investment team, Jaclyn conducts research and evaluation of proposed investment opportunities and ongoing monitoring and analysis of the portfolio.

Jaclyn received some training in Mining and Mineral engineering at Queens University and graduated from York University with a Bachelor of Arts (BA) Economics and is working towards her CFA designation.

Tristan Weatherhead

Investment Manager

Tristan Weatherhead joined the Dancap Family Investment Office in 2020 as an Investment Analyst. Along with the investment team, Tristan conducts research and evaluation of proposed investment opportunities and ongoing monitoring and analysis of the portfolio.

Prior to joining Dancap, Tristan was an intern at Scotiabank where he worked on commodities trading strategies, and was also an analyst at Economical Insurance and Ontario Power Generation.

Tristan received his Bachelor of Business Administration from Wilfrid Laurier University, a Bachelor of Mathematics from University of Waterloo and is working towards his CFA designation.

Hermanraj Singh

Senior Tax Manager

Hermanraj Singh joined the Dancap Family Investment Office in 2024. In his current role as Senior Tax Manager, Herman is responsible for supporting the overall tax strategy to drive and deliver successful engagements while ensuring compliance across the Family Office entities.

Herman is a CPA, CA specializing in taxation and graduate from Wilfrid Laurier University with a BBA from the School of Business and Economics. Working with high-net-worth clients since the onset of his professional career, Herman has provided accounting, tax and advisory services to owner-managed businesses in various industries. Prior to joining Dancap, Herman was a key member of the management team of a multi-family office advising on tax and finance functions supporting a dynamic investment portfolio. 

Hussein Sobh

Senior Portfolio Administrator

Hussein Sobh joined the Dancap Family Investment Office in 2018 as a Portfolio Administrator. Hussein is in constant communication with portfolio General Partners and institutions on behalf of the Investment Team. Hussein also assists with various diligence activities on new and existing investment opportunities, while updating and maintaining our data base.

Prior to joining Dancap, Hussein worked as an intern where he carried out legal research and worked with attorneys and case reviewers in resolving legal disputes.

Dolcita Birch

Executive Office Manager

Dolcita Birch joined the Dancap Family Investment Office in 2019 as Executive Office Manager. She has a range of responsibilities that contribute to the effective and efficient operation of the Dancap Family Investment Office which includes executive support to the President and COO, property management and human resources.

Prior to joining Dancap, Dolcita worked extensively as an Executive Assistant supporting Presidents and CEOs and Senior Level Management while contributing to the day-to-day business operations.
